Many people are unaware that psychology is not a one-size-fits-all treatment. Within the rich history of psychology and psychological services, there are many branches of the field that are similar and different in their approaches to treatment. While many people are familiar with Sigmund Freud, known as the father of modern psychology, other approaches, or orientations, are less well-known.
